Job summary

Applied Information Sciences is seeking a Sr. Cybersecurity Engineer (ISSE) to lead RMF lifecycle activities for mission-critical federal systems.

You will supervise a team of security professionals, guide categorization and control selection, and oversee continuous monitoring and authorization processes. The role requires TS/SCI clearance and 8+ years of comprehensive security experience, with strong knowledge of NIST frameworks.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• 8+ years of experience in secure design, analysis, and testing of information security systems and products.
• 8+ years of applying cybersecurity methods to ensure security safeguards are implemented and documented.
• 8+ years of developing and maintaining security test plans to identify and mitigate system risks.
• Experience leading or supporting RMF lifecycle activities (Prepare, Categorize, Select, Implement, Assess, Authorize, Monitor).
• Strong understanding of NIST 800-37, NIST 800-53, and related federal cybersecurity frameworks.
• Experience supporting system authorization (ATO) processes and documentation deliverables.
• One of the following certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of contractor security professionals responsible for RMF lifecycle implementation across IT systems.
• Oversee Prepare step of RMF, ensure defined roles, responsibilities, and risk strategies.
• Guide system categorization to align with mission impact and regulatory requirements.
• Advise on security controls selection, tailoring, and documentation.
• Oversee implementation of security controls throughout system lifecycles.
• Ensure security control assessments are planned, executed, and documented.
• Prepare and review authorization package documentation to support system authorization.
• Direct continuous monitoring activities with metrics reporting for ongoing compliance and risk reduction.
• Serve as principal cybersecurity advisor for risk analysis, incident response, and audit support.
• Promote security awareness through training and guidance to teams and stakeholders.
• Track and communicate status, risks, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
• Maintain knowledge of RMF, NIST standards, and cybersecurity best practices.
