Job summary

Glendale Middle School in Salt Lake City, Utah is seeking a Head Custodian to lead the custodial staff and maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming school facility. The ideal candidate will have supervisory experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of custodial experience is required.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) required.
• Ability to meet physical demands including lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Valid Utah driver’s license and insurability evidence.
• Must be fluent in English (read, write, speak).
• Current Salt Lake City School District employee status is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead custodial staff in cleaning and maintaining facilities to high standards of sanitation and safety.
• Act as IPM site coordinator and ensure adherence to safety guidelines.
• Supervise custodial personnel, including training, evaluating, and staffing.
• Collaborate with other units to support school operations.
• Communicate effectively with diverse groups while maintaining confidentiality.
• Maintain supplies and equipment needed for daily operations.
• Monitor mechanical and maintenance systems and report issues.
• Coordinate furniture setup and site activities as needed.
• Inspect facilities to identify repairs and ensure safe operations.
• Attend meetings and prepare written documentation as required.
• Ensure facilities are ready for daily operations and secure during off-hours.
• Replenish cleaning supplies to maintain inventory.
