Job summary

The Salt Lake City School District is seeking custodians to maintain clean, safe facilities for students, staff, and the public. You will prepare spaces for daily operations and events, manage supplies, and assist the Head Custodian with repairs and safety tasks.

Two positions available at Highland and West, starting wage $34,131 annually, 242 work days, contract status as per district. Anticipated start date 11/02/2026. Must pass fingerprint background checks and speak English proficiently.

Qualifications

• Fingerprinting and criminal background check required
• One year of job-related experience
• Must be 18 years old or older
• Speak, read, write, present professionally, analyze, understand, and interpret written and verbal communications in English

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned school facilities to maintain a sanitary, healthy, safe, and attractive environment using industrial cleaning methods
• Prepare facilities for daily operations and events
• Arrange furnishings and equipment for meetings and activities
• Assist the Head Custodian with snow removal and supplies management
• Repair minor furniture and equipment as needed
• Respond to safety and operational concerns and secure facilities and grounds
• Substitute for the Head Custodian as needed when assistants are unavailable
• Communicate effectively with diverse groups while maintaining confidentiality
