Job summary

The City of Compton is seeking a Lead Custodian to supervise a team responsible for the interior and exterior upkeep of City buildings. Responsibilities include directing daily work, training staff, and ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety.

You will perform routine custodial duties, assist with events setup, and coordinate with the Director of General Services. A valid driver’s license and several years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• 4 years custodial experience.
• Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of custodial methods and safety policies.
• Supervisory principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Leads a team of custodians; directs daily work activities and assigns tasks.
• Cleans, sanitizes and deodorizes restrooms.
• Sweeps, vacuums, mops, waxes, and shampoos floors and carpeting.
• Sets up and breaks down for meetings and events.
• Maintains exterior of facility and oversees trash pickup.
• Performs minor maintenance and liaises with facilities staff.
