Job summary

Qualifications

• Must possess at least a Second Class Boiler license.
• Ability to work with district employees and be courteous with students and public.
• Knowledge of maintaining school buildings in a safe, clean, orderly condition.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods for floors, boards, carpets, furniture, walls, and fixtures.
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment, tools, materials and supplies.
• Ability to learn custodial procedures, methods and schedules.
• Ability to keep classrooms, offices and other facilities clean, safe and secure.
• Ability to use cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
• Ability to move and arrange furniture for meetings and events.
• Ability to observe and report safety hazards and maintenance needs.
• Ability to perform minor maintenance and repair on furniture, equipment and facilities.
• Ability to confer with administrators regarding custodial needs and schedules.
• Knowledge of administration, training, and supervision principles.
• Ability to assign and review the work of others.
• Ability to train, supervise, and evaluate personnel.

Responsibilities

• Do general cleaning functions such as vacuum, scrub, wax, buff and sweep floors including chemicals.
• Perform minor maintenance to keep schools and classrooms operational.
• Secure building and test/fire alarms.
• Set up equipment for events.
• Check boilers, gauges and pumps; report issues.
• Open or close building as needed.
• Inspect building, grounds and equipment for safety.
• Coordinate and assign tasks to regular custodial staff.
• Distribute supplies for kitchen, office, teachers and departments.
• Perform minor repairs to chairs, desks and fixtures.
• Conduct minor grounds maintenance including mowing, landscaping, snow removal, painting or similar tasks.
• Supervise student workers in cleaning tasks.
• Set up equipment for events.
• Other duties as assigned.
