Job summary

Des Moines Public School District, Studebaker site, is seeking an Operations Engineer Chief, Class 3 to lead custodial operations, coordinate staff, manage supplies, and oversee safety and maintenance in a district facility.

The role requires custodial leadership, strong communication, and ability to work with a diverse staff. Starting date is To Be Determined and the schedule is 6:00am–2:30pm with full-time status in Des Moines, IA.

Qualifications

• Two years of custodial experience.
• Effective verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of a computer and Microsoft Office tools.
• Working knowledge of housekeeping practices and cleaning equipment.
• Working knowledge of broiler room/geothermal system operations and related equipment.
• Leadership skills.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Good judgment and spirit of cooperation with others.
• Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead custodial staff in assigned facilities and coordinate staff schedules.
• Maintain inventories and supplies for the facility.
• Conduct basic building safety inspections and maintenance.
• Provide routine maintenance and repair to equipment and facilities.
• Support building administration to meet unique needs of the building and occupants.
• Assist with annual performance evaluations of subordinate staff.
• Perform cleaning tasks to maintain the facility.
• Coordinate with operations staff to ensure heating, ventilation, and maintenance.
• Ensure facility is secured each night to prevent loss of or damage to property.
• Follow all policies and procedures for building personnel in operations.
