Job summary

The Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center of Houston seeks an experienced part-time culinary instructor to lead hands-on cooking classes at our Houston, TX location.

You will prepare ingredients, set up sessions 30–45 minutes early, and teach clearly to adults and children while maintaining a positive learning environment and strong safety standards.

You will design menus and recipes for each class, with opportunities to participate in community programs and member benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience as a chef or culinary instructor.
• Proven ability to teach both adults and children.
• Clear verbal and written communication.
• Pass Federal & State background check.
• Maintain safety procedures in kitchen.

Responsibilities

• Assure class is set up and ready with all needed ingredients and equipment 30-45 minutes prior to class start.
• Teach hands-on cooking classes and demonstrations, ensuring clarity and effectiveness in instruction.
• Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged and motivated.
• Ensure that all safety procedures and protocols are followed in the kitchen environment.
• Design and organize the menu and recipes for the class.
