Lead CT/MRI Tech

DESCRIPTION:

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills of personnel so classified.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain and exhibit behavior that promotes patient confidence and trust.
  • Capable of working independently/unsupervised. Must produce computerized tomographic images of designated anatomical areas as ordered/directed according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Operates MR I equipment, prepares patients for procedures, ensures that enough information has been obtained to make a diagnosis, assists in the management of the patient flow and presents images for physician diagnosis; has responsibility for back-up coverage.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of CT/MRI imaging exams.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use and application of immobilization devices for all ages while adhering to safety precautions.
  • Verifies all information is correct before placing the patient in the scanner and ensures that enough information has been obtained to make a diagnosis, assists in the management of the patient flow and presents images for physician diagnosis.
  • Prepares or enters written documentation as required by the Department, such as informed patient consents and patient chart documentation; demonstrates the ability to recognize patient fears and apprehensions about exams.
  • Completes requested exams in a timely manner, observing radiation safety standards.
  • Observes biosafety and regulations. Performs related duties in PACS.
  • Knowledge and adherence to established hospital/department policies and procedures, including safety; completes requested examinations in a timely manner.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must select and operate equipment as directed; must be aware of and able to prevent Sentinel Events.
  • Prepare for the ACR for CT & MRI.
  • Responsibilities may be added, changed or deleted at any time at the direction of the Assistant/Director or Radiology, either verbally or in writing.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Graduate
  • NYS DOH License
  • Graduate of a program in Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT
  • CT/MRI Certification preferred
  • Certified to inject (preferred or within 3 months of hire)
  • BLS from the American Heart Association
  • Computer knowledge preferred.

As part of employment at Sout hampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBSH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Pre-Start Requirements

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Employee Health Services*
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen*
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.
