Job description

Overview

Position: Cat Scan Imaging Technologist (CT) – Pediatric and Adult. Demonstrate proficiency in the performance of CT imaging exams, use of pediatric immobilization devices, and adherence to safety precautions. Produce CT radiographs of designated anatomical areas as ordered, with written documentation as required by the Department. Maintain sterile/aseptic techniques when necessary, check equipment and supplies, and assist diverse age groups with accommodations as needed. Complete examinations in a timely manner while observing radiation safety standards.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the performance of diagnostic and CT imaging examinations.
  • Maintain established Department policies and procedures.
  • Verify correct patient identity by matching requisitions with the patient name band.
  • Explain procedures to patients and answer questions in plain language.
  • Label images with patient identification accurately.
  • Prepare or enter written documentation as required by the Department (informed consents, patient chart documentation, and related functions).
  • Check requested examinations promptly, using professional technical skills efficiently.
  • Transport patients to and from radiographic locations.
  • Send images to PACS and evaluate image quality for technical adequacy.
  • Perform portable and operating room/CT examinations professionally and timely.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in dealing with patients of all age groups and adapt to their needs.
  • Adhere to hospital rules, policies, and regulations regarding attendance, punctuality, attitude, courtesy, and respect for co-workers.
  • Address the special needs of each age group and assist in making reasonable accommodations for hearing impaired or physically challenged patients.
  • Demonstrate understanding of patient and visitor needs for each age group.
  • Accept additional related responsibilities delegated by leadership as directed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personnel and patient information (electronic and print).
  • Able to make CDs and print films from PACS.
Required Experience And Qualifications
  • High School graduate.
  • Graduate of Radiology Program, NYSDOH License, ARRT certification.
  • Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
Preferred Experience And Qualifications
  • CT Certification / Certified to inject (preferred).
  • Computer knowledge preferred.

  • As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, travel to other locations may be needed to support operational needs.

Anticipated Pay Range

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is based on relevant experience. The above salary range represents a good faith estimate of possible compensation at the time of posting. Your total compensation goes beyond the paycheck amount.

Pre-Start Requirements

Prior to start date, selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from the hospital’s Employee Health Services.
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen.
  • Meet regulatory requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide copy of any required New York State licenses/certificates.

Failure to comply could result in delayed start or revocation of employment.
