Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama seeks a lead CRNA to coordinate anesthesia services for diverse surgical procedures at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham campus. The role involves clinical instruction of nurse anesthesia students and acting as a clinical resource for staff.

The ideal candidate is a Graduate of an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program with at least two years of related experience, holding APN-CRNA certification, ACLS/BLS/PALS, and enjoying autonomy within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia Program.
• Two (2) years of related experience required. Work experience may not substitute for education.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating anesthesia treatments and procedures.
• Preoperatively evaluate patients and assess anesthetic risks and plan appropriate care.
• Administer medically directed anesthetics during surgical, obstetric, therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
• Respond to critical patient care needs including invasive monitoring and airway management.
• Conduct perioperative evaluation, obtain informed consent, and follow up on complications.
• Lead daily operations, ensure adequate staff coverage, and mentor staff and students.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
