Job summary

New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department seeks qualified CPS Case Workers to assess referrals, determine safety, and coordinate services for children and families across the state.

You will triage calls, review intakes, and develop safety plans while collaborating with schools, providers, and law enforcement. The role requires a related bachelor's degree and relevant experience, with a term appointment and office-based duties in Albuquerque.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, education, counseling, psychology, sociology, criminal justice or family studies.
• Two years of experience in health or social services, or six years combined education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Triage and assess referrals to determine safety and follow-up actions.
• Maintain knowledge of the NM Children’s Code to support safety and permanency.
• Assess safety and risk to children and families throughout the case.
• Notify supervisors of emergencies and participate in QA reviews.
• Lead intake unit activities and mentor new workers.
• Ensure timely intakes, accuracy of reporting, and use of SDM tools.
• Coordinate with community services, providers, and law enforcement as needed.
• Review cases for quality and ensure proper documentation in FACTS.
