Job summary

The New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) seeks an experienced attorney to serve as Associate General Counsel. The successful candidate will oversee the General Counsel Division, act as lead counsel in proceedings before OATH and state courts, and guide licensing-law regulatory compliance across divisions.

This role requires strong supervisory experience and sound litigation strategies, with a hybrid work arrangement (up to 2 days remote) in the New York City area.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the New York State Bar and in good standing.
• Four years of recent full-time legal experience after admission, including at least 18 months in a supervisory or managerial capacity.

Responsibilities

• Act as lead counsel in proceedings before OATH and state courts.
• Develop strategies for affirmative litigation.
• Provide legal counseling to divisions regarding licensing laws and regulatory compliance.
