Ford Motor Company seeks a Lead Counsel, Transactions and Market Compliance to provide practical, business-focused legal support to Corporate Development, Supply Chain, Finance, and other functions on U.S. and cross-border matters including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures across automotive and adjacent businesses.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission in the US.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in U.S. and global mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and complex commercial transactions.
• Experience advising on supply chain transactions and cross-border matters.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support legal workstreams on mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs, minority investments, collaborations, and joint ventures, from diligence through closing and post-closing integration.
• Draft, review, and negotiate agreements and transaction documents.
• Provide legal support for global supply chain, supplier disputes, and process improvements.
• Negotiate with counterparties, suppliers, and JV partners domestically and internationally.
• Balance legal risk with commercial objectives and prepare clear recommendations for leadership.
• Advise business clients and support senior attorneys with deal strategy and governance.
• Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, and legal tech while preserving confidentiality and compliance.
• Collaborate with paralegals and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality support.
• Coordinate with global legal teams on transaction, regulatory, compliance, and governance matters.
• Help manage outside counsel, including scope, staffing, budgets, timelines, and output quality.
• Contribute to templates, playbooks, and precedent libraries to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Support enterprise priorities in areas such as electrification, software and connectivity, energy, autonomy, and defense-related programs.
