Job summary

Meta seeks an experienced transactional attorney to serve as Lead Counsel supporting payments initiatives across its family of apps. You will structure, draft, and negotiate strategic payments processing agreements, agentic partnerships, and payment network integrations.

You will advise on legal risks, business strategy, and regulatory issues in global commercial transactions. This full‑time in‑house role requires JD, active US bar, 5+ years of experience, and the ability to coordinate with

Qualifications

• JD required; active bar license in at least one US state (or equivalent foreign bar)
• 5+ years of legal experience as practicing attorney, in‑house or at law firm
• Experience advising on payments law, financial services regulation, or money transmission requirements
• Experience drafting/negotiating commercial agreements with financial institutions, payment networks, or technology partners
• Experience managing deals with tight deadlines and cross‑functional stakeholders
• Ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly to technical and non‑technical audiences
• Familiarity with international payments regulations and cross‑border licensing
• Experience integrating AI tools to optimize legal workflows
• Experience drawing data processing and SLA terms with vendors
• In‑house experience at consumer tech, fintech, or payments platforms

Responsibilities

• Structure, draft and negotiate strategic payments processing agreements and partnerships
• Advise on payments law, compliance and regulatory risk for the business
• Collaborate with partnerships and business development teams across apps
• Manage multiple deals with tight deadlines and minimal supervision
• Communicate complex regulatory concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Oversee vendor arrangements including fraud, risk, identity and financial crime controls
