Job summary

Delve Underground is seeking a Lead Cost Estimator to manage and perform complex cost estimation for heavy civil tunnel projects across North America. You will lead a team of estimators, develop conceptual and production-based estimates, and maintain estimating databases while coordinating with project teams.

The role requires extensive field experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with estimating software and schedules.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in direct field work on heavy civil tunnel projects; 20+ years preferred.
• Experience with a heavy civil contractor with underground projects is desirable.
• Exposure to cost estimating and pricing work.
• Experience with construction claims or change orders.
• Accredited undergraduate degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
• Professional registration or certification, or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Strong analytical and computer software skills.
• Knowledge of specification writing and review.
• Understanding of Measurement and Payment structuring.
• Scheduling experience and capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost estimating efforts on complex civil, structural, and tunnel projects.
• Lead a group of project cost estimators.
• Oversee estimating efforts: conceptual estimates using unit price and production methods.
• Develop production-based estimates and schedules for interim deliverables.
• Take-off and quote solicitations; maintain estimating database.
• Occasional field visits to observe construction means/methods and crew/equipment spreads.
• Provide QA review on work by others.
