Job summary

The GEO Group in Houston, TX seeks a Transport Officer to securely move detainees between destinations and ensure vehicles are safe and properly maintained. You will review vehicle reports, ensure licenses and permits are in order, and support DOT logging requirements.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, several years in law enforcement or detention roles, and a valid CDL or ability to obtain one, with willingness to travel and work extended hours in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; state requisites for employment.
• Minimum 3 years of law enforcement, corrections, or military police experience; detention experience may qualify.
• 2 years of driving experience in a transportation capacity.
• CDL license/permit preferred, must obtain CDL within 6 months of hire.
• Must pass DOT drug and alcohol test and have a clean driving record.
• Ability to travel extensively and work overtime; strong stress tolerance.

Responsibilities

• Transport detainees securely between destinations.
• Ensure vehicles used for transportation are safe and well maintained.
• Review vehicle inspection reports and provide summaries to Transportation management.
• Ensure all permits and licenses are current.
• Maintain DOT HOS records on Electronic Logging Devices.
• Participate in interviewing and screening of Transport Officers.
• Ensure compliance with safety measures (PBNDS/FBNDS) during transport.
