Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a Sergeant at Mack Alford Correctional Center to supervise inmate security and provide leadership on a correctional post. The role includes escorting inmate crews, inventorying equipment, patrolling facilities, and maintaining order during programs and meals.

Candidates must meet education/experience standards, be able to perform counts and searches, and undergo required training.

Qualifications

• Education and experience requirements per Title 57 O.S. Section 510.A.2: 30 semester hours or HS diploma/GED + 24 months in correctional/security work.
• Applicants must be able to complete fitness tests and drive as needed.
• Successful completion of screening and training as required by the Department.

Responsibilities

• Provides security and supervision to inmates in various situations and posts.
• Escorts inmate work crews and controls equipment, weapons, tools, and keys.
• Patrols areas, observes inmate movements, and manages conduct and discipline.
• Maintains order during meals, recreation, and programs; inspects living areas for contraband.
• Operates security equipment and conducts inmate counts and searches for contraband.
• Prepares written reports on inmate behavior, status, and movement.
• Participates in escape/apprehension teams and responds to riots and fires.
