Job summary

The Oklahoma Department of Corrections invites applications for a Sergeant at Jess Dunn Correctional Center. This full-time, on-site leadership role provides security, supervision, and control of inmates across multiple posts and programs.

You will patrol facilities, supervise inmate crews, conduct counts and searches, and prepare reports. Applicants must meet statutory education and experience requirements, pass drug testing, and be willing to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Must meet statutory age and education requirements (20+ years; 30 college hours or GED with approved training).
• Minimum two years of experience in correctional or security work for a governmental or private agency.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel as needed.
• Must pass physical fitness and drug testing.
• Willing to work any shift, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provides security and supervision to inmates in various situations and posts.
• Patrols yards, facilities, and living areas to monitor inmate behavior and movements.
• Conducts inmate counts and searches for contraband.
• Prepares written reports on inmate behavior and incidents.
• Operates security equipment and oversees inmate work crews.
• Responds to riots, fires, and emergencies.
