Job summary

Oklahoma Department of Corrections is seeking a Sergeant to oversee security and custody in a state correctional facility. Responsibilities include supervising inmates, managing movement, and ensuring safety across posts and shifts.

Qualifications

• Must meet statutory requirements: 30 semester hours or high school diploma/GED with approved training.
• Minimum age 20; 24 months correctional or security experience.
• Successful completion of GED is per Oklahoma standards.

Responsibilities

• Provides security and supervision to inmates across varied situations and activities; maintains security of assigned post.
• Supervises inmate work crews; escorts inmates to work sites; inventories and controls equipment, weapons, tools and keys.
• Patrols yards, cell houses, corridors, dormitories and work areas; observes inmate activities and movements; manages conduct and discipline.
• Maintains order during programs, meals, and recreation; inspects living areas for contraband; prepares incident reports.
