Job summary

County of Adams is seeking a Lieutenant for the Adult Correctional Complex in Gettysburg, PA. The role supervises staff, manages security operations, and ensures daily facility operations in accordance with policies.

This essential position requires a high school diploma or GED, 2 years of corrections experience, and a preferred bachelor’s degree. Works 12-hour shifts on a 3/4 schedule with benefits and a pension plan.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years’ experience as a Corrections Officer in a prison setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable subject (criminal justice, psychology, sociology, etc.) helpful.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the facility, including safety, security, and supervision of staff and inmate population.
• Supervise subordinate staff and coordinate activities as assigned by the Warden or duty officer.
• Serve as Shift Commander in the absence of the Warden, ensuring proper command of the complex.
• Work a 12-hour shift schedule (3 days one week, 4 days the next), with AM or PM rotation.
