Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Simpsonville, SC is seeking a Lead Cook to prepare meals per approved menus, accommodate residents' dietary needs, and supervise dietary staff in the absence of directors.

Responsibilities include training staff, maintaining a clean kitchen, monitoring temperatures, controlling portions, and coordinating with the Dining Services Director to ensure timely meal service.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience as a cook, preferably in senior living for fine dining.
• Leadership experience.
• Serv-Safe certification required or willingness to complete within 60 days of hire.
• Basic understanding of food service operations and staff duties.
• Ability to read, write and perform simple calculations.
• Ability to follow both oral and written directions.
• Experience in food preparation and estimating quantities.
• Knowledge of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment.
• Able to stand long periods, lift 50 lbs, and adapt to temperature extremes.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to approved menus and recipes.
• Assist with training and supervision of dietary staff.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
• Report faulty equipment and keep service areas ready for meals.
• Monitor temperatures and ensure proper food safety practices.
• Control portions to minimize waste and manage inventory.
• Supervise duties in absence of Dining Services Director/Supervisor.
• Support readiness for next day operation and adhere to schedules.
