Job summary

Tigg's Canteen Services is seeking a Full-Time Lead Cook to oversee daily kitchen operations at the Grand Traverse County Jail in Traverse City, Michigan. You will prepare, cook, and bake meals according to company recipes and lead a small kitchen team.

We are looking for a dependable leader with strong communication skills who thrives in a structured correctional setting. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and read standardized recipes; high school diploma or GED required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes.
• Willingness to obtain facility security clearance.

Responsibilities

In This Role, You Will

• Lead and support daily kitchen operations


• Prepare, cook, and bake meals according to company recipes


• Train and assist kitchen staff


• Ensure meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and on schedule


• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards


• Help create a positive, team-oriented work environment

We're Looking For Someone Who

• Has strong leadership and communication skills


• Works well in a structured correctional setting


• Can read and follow standardized recipes


• Is able to lift up to 50 pounds


• Takes pride in producing quality food and maintaining a clean kitchen

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED


• Ability to obtain facility security clearance


• Availability to work rotating weekends and holidays


• Flexibility to work shifts between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.


• Previous food service experience is preferred, but we're willing to train motivated candidates with the right attitude!
