Job summary

Canteen Services is hiring a Permanent Full-Time Lead Cook for Genesee County Jail in Flint, MI. This role will include leading meal preparations and maintaining kitchen cleanliness.

Ideal candidates should have a high school diploma and must be able to work in a structured correctional environment. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and a starting pay of $20.00 an hour. Position available from July 1, 2026.

Qualifications

• Ability to work well in a structured correctional environment.
• Ability to read and follow company recipes.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to lead, instruct, and assist with meal preparations including food preparation.
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare meals according to recipes and dietary requirements.
• Lead and instruct kitchen staff during meal preparation.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area.
