Job summary

The Marzetti Company is seeking an Automation & Controls Engineer to ensure reliability, improvement, and cybersecurity of automation systems across food processing and packaging operations in Georgia. You will work independently to support production, resolve complex controls issues, modernize legacy systems, and deliver projects that improve safety, quality, throughput, and uptime.

Qualifications

• . Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• . Demonstrated automation and controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
• . Hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation ControlLogix or CompactLogix PLCs and Studio 5000.
• . Experience developing, maintaining, or troubleshooting SCADA/HMI systems using Ignition, FactoryTalk, or comparable platforms.
• . Strong troubleshooting across PLC logic, industrial networks, VFDs, motion systems, instrumentation, and I/O.
• . Knowledge of EtherNet/IP and OPC/Modbus/MQTT/Profibus or similar protocols.
• . Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and network drawings.
• . Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
• . Ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Program, troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize PLC-based control systems, focusing on Allen-Bradley/ControlLogix and CompactLogix with Studio 5000.
• Support and troubleshoot other controls platforms in the facility (ABB, Bosch Rexroth, Mitsubishi, Omron, Siemens).
• Develop, maintain, and improve SCADA/HMI apps using Ignition and FactoryTalk; manage tags, alarms, trends, historian data, reports, and security roles.
• Identify and implement PLC/SCADA/infrastructure improvements, upgrades, migrations, obsolescence-risk mitigation, and standardization.
• Troubleshoot VFDs, servo and motion systems, instrumentation, remote I/O, robots, safety systems, and machine communications.
• Maintain accurate controls documentation including backups, change records, I/O lists, schematics, and procedures.
