Job summary

Riot Platforms in Texas is seeking a hands-on Controls Engineer to lead commissioning and project delivery on-site for our liquid-cooled data centers. You will work with operations, engineering, and vendor partners to ensure reliable start-up and performance.

Based in Rockdale, TX, this role offers relocation assistance for non-local candidates. You will mentor junior engineers, own controls standards over time, and help grow Riot's controls organization while ensuring safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of controls engineering experience in data centers or mission-critical infrastructure.
• Extensive experience with EPMS, BMS and SCADA integration and commissioning.
• Hands-on commissioning and vendor management experience (RFP review, PSA negotiation and execution).
• Familiarity with BACnet, Modbus, and OPC-UA protocols.
• Comfort owning incident response and change management for live infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site commissioning and project management across deployments, including close-out, warranty resolution, and vendor management.
• Own commissioning and vendor management for new deployments as they come online, including projects as large as 200 MW.
• Support monitoring, alarm thresholds, and controls integration for our liquid-cooled (direct-to-chip and immersion) infrastructure, working alongside our thermal and mechanical teams.
• Lead hands-on, on-site troubleshooting and technical support for our operations teams.
• Mentor and directly help develop junior controls team members, including team members transitioning into controls engineering roles.
• As your on-site workload stabilizes, grow into reviewing — and eventually co-owning — our controls standards and governance documentation.
