Job summary

Riot Platforms is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Mechanical SME) to lead the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of mechanical systems for our critical infrastructure, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and air handling. This onsite role in Rockdale, TX will drive reliability and efficiency across high-density compute environments.

You will bridge design intent with field execution, own RCA for mechanical incidents, and help develop CI programs and predictive maintenance

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in mechanical systems within critical infrastructure or data center environments.
• Experience with hyperscale data centers and liquid cooling deployment is strongly preferred.
• B.S. in Mechanical Engineering; PE, CEM, orCxA certifications are a plus.
• Mastery of heat transfer, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics as applied to operating systems.
• Expert-level knowledge of pumps, fans, valves, heat exchangers, and heat rejection equipment.
• Proficiency reading P&IDs and mechanical schematics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy for campus mechanical systems, including heat rejection and large-scale liquid cooling deployments.
• Apply fundamentals to validate system heat balance, pressure drop, and airflow management.
• Review drawings, submittals, and selections to identify potential issues before field deployment.
• Support rack deployments with mechanical and project management input from capacity planning through turnover.
• Define and optimize control sequences and alarm thresholds; collaborate with Automation teams on PLC/BMS setpoints.
