Job summary

Day & Zimmermann is seeking a Controls Engineer for our Texarkana munitions site to design, develop, and refine advanced electronic control systems, including PLCs and automated machinery, improving manufacturing efficiency and reliability.

You will lead large projects, collaborate with process owners, and mentor teams while ensuring safety, quality, and uptime across the production line.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years engineering experience.
• Experience with automation and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage large-scale control system projects from concept through implementation, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Develop innovative solutions to optimize existing automated equipment and tools, driving throughput and efficiency; troubleshoot to minimize downtime.
• Supervise maintenance personnel and outsourced service providers, ensuring safety and quality standards.
• Collaborate with process owners to design user-centric control systems that boost uptime and yield through automation.
• Design, program, and troubleshoot complex control equipment with focus on reliability; document solutions and provide expert support.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging automation technologies to keep systems efficient and safe.
