Job summary

INSPYR Solutions is seeking a Senior Manager for Controls & Automation Software Development in Houston, TX. Lead a multidisciplinary team delivering PLC/HMI-based control software for drilling systems, with governance over SDLC, architecture, testing, and release excellence.

You will drive technical leadership, software quality, and strategic staffing, ensuring delivery aligns with business priorities while maintaining high standards across the engineering organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• min 10 years of progressive experience in industrial controls software.
• Experience leading software engineering teams for automation systems.
• Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols.
• Ability to manage multiple programs with competing priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performing Controls Software Engineering organization.
• Establish a culture of technical excellence, accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Lead Technical Leads, Senior Engineers, Quality Engineering, and third-party resources.
• Develop organizational capability through coaching, mentorship, and leadership development.
• Define and maintain engineering ladders and competency expectations across levels.
• Own workforce planning and hiring strategy aligned with the technology roadmap.
• Define software contribution standards and ensure high-quality SDLC processes.
• Drive release planning, capacity planning, and delivery forecasting.
• Oversee platform evolution, modular architecture, and hardware abstraction.
• Collaborate with Product Management and field teams to ensure successful deployments.
• Promote diverse and inclusive environment.
