Job summary

Bosch Charleston seeks a capable engineer to lead software development, PLC programming, and IT infrastructure projects in automated manufacturing. You will investigate, trial, and improve processes, set up equipment for studies, and document quality plans per company standards.

You will mentor hourly associates, drive improvements in safety, cost, quality, and delivery, and participate in MES-driven daily management to achieve targets.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering (Controls, Automation, Electrical, or Mechanical) and 3+ years technical experience.
• Hands-on experience with highly automated equipment technologies such as CNC machines and robotics.
• Programming experience with object-oriented languages and web technologies (PLC programming, C#, Python, HTML/Javascript).
• Experience with data analytics tools (PowerBI, Tableau).
• Working knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle) and IT concepts (VMs, networking).
• Experience in high-volume/technology manufacturing processes within the automotive industry preferred.
• Ability to read and define electric drawings, pneumatic and/or hydraulic plans.
• Project leadership skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet targets.
• Ability to work on cross-functional teams with self-initiative.
• Experience utilizing problem solving techniques (Six Sigma, Shainin, 5 whys).
• Ability to travel (including internationally) for training, projects, and IPN activities.

Responsibilities

• Project lead for software development, PLC programming and IT infrastructure implementations.
• Perform investigations, trials, and improvements in automated manufacturing processes.
• Set up machines and devices to prepare investigations as indicated.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documentation and quality plans per company standards.
• Identify and resolve quality issues related to automated equipment.
• Mentor hourly skilled associates in proactive maintenance and training material development.
• Lead projects to improve safety, cost, quality, delivery, and utilization of manufacturing processes.
• Participate in daily management of area using MES and analytics to meet targets and drive continuous improvement.
