Job summary

Bosch Charleston, part of Bosch USA, seeks a seasoned engineer to lead software, PLC programming and IT infrastructure efforts in automated manufacturing. You will set up investigations, develop docs, mentor staff and drive improvements across safety, quality and efficiency.

The role requires hands-on automation experience, cross-functional collaboration, and domestic/international travel for projects. Competitive benefits accompany the role.

Qualifications

BS in Engineering with 3+ years of technical experience.
Hands-on with highly automated equipment (CNC, robotics, vision systems).
Experience with programming in object-oriented languages and web tech (PLC, C#, Python, HTML/JS).
Knowledge of data analytics tools (PowerBI, Tableau) and relational databases (MySQL, SQL, Oracle).
Ability to travel (including international) for training/projects/IPN activities.

Lead software development, PLC programming and IT infrastructure implementations.
Perform investigations, trials and improvements in automated manufacturing processes.
Set up machines/devices for investigations as required.
Create/maintain manufacturing docs and quality plans per standards.
Identify and resolve quality issues with automated equipment.
Mentor hourly associates in proactive maintenance and training materials.
Lead projects to improve safety, cost, quality, delivery and utilization.
Participate in daily management using MES and analytics to meet targets.

Job Description

Project lead for software development, PLC programming and IT infrastructure implementations.
Perform investigations, trials, and improvements in automated manufacturing processes.
Set up machines and devices to prepare investigations as indicated.
Create and maintain manufacturing documentation and quality plans according to company standards (including process flow diagrams, PQIs, process control documentation, standard work instructions, etc).
Identifies and resolves quality issues related to automated equipment.
Mentors hourly skilled associates in proactive maintenance of assigned processes, including development of qualification cards and other training material.
Identify and lead projects to improve safety, cost, quality, delivery, and utilization of manufacturing processes in order to meet Policy Deployment objectives.
Actively participate in daily management of area using MES and other analytics/data to meet targets and derive measures to continuously improve performance.

Qualifications

BS in Engineering (Controls, Automation, Electrical, or Mechanical) and 3+ years technical experience.
Hands-on experience with highly automated equipment technologies- such as CNC machines and High Pressure Deburr, robots (Kuka, Staubly), automated axis systems, vision systems, and feeding systems.
Mechanical and electrical hardware design/upgrade experience.
Programming experience with object-oriented languages and web technologies (PLC programming, C#, Python, HTML/Javascript)
Experience with data analytics tools (PowerBI, Tableau, etc)
Working knowledge of relational databases (MySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle) and IT concepts (VMs, networking)
Experience in high volume/technology manufacturing processes within the automotive industry preferred.
Ability to read and define electric drawings, pneumatic and/or hydraulic plans.
Project leadership skills and the ability to prioritize workload to meet established targets.
Ability to work on cross-functional teams with a high degree of self-initiative.
Experience utilizing problem solving techniques to solve complex manufacturing issues (Six Sigma, Shainin, 5 whys).
Ability to travel (including internationally) for training, projects, and IPN activities.
