Job summary

M&T Bank seeks a Business Risk Team Lead to strengthen controls across Institutional Services. You will partner with leaders to map processes, identify risks, and design testable controls aligned with regulatory requirements.

Ideal candidates have strong operational risk, internal audit, or consulting experience, with hands-on RCSA, control rationalization, and data analytics. Lead multiple initiatives and mentor junior staff in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; at least 5 years of relevant work experience in operational risk management, internal audit, or risk consultancy.
• Strong background in process analysis, risk identification, and control design with proven remediation experience.
• Experience leading risk assessments, RCSAs, and control rationalization with measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders to evaluate processes, identify risks, and design effective controls meeting regulatory requirements.
• Lead risk identification, risk assessment, RCSA, and control design across multiple functions to drive improvements.
• Conduct process analysis and mapping to identify operational, compliance, and fiduciary risks and propose mitigation strategies.
• Review process docs, control inventories, and control language; ensure designs are sustainable and demonstrable.
• Perform control gap analyses, recommending preventive/detective/automated controls as appropriate.
• Translate complex processes and risks into testable control designs aligned with standards.
