Lockton Companies LLC is seeking a VP, Lead Consultant to lead our Pharmacy practice for large, complex accounts. You will consult on plan design, pricing, benchmarking, and renewals while coordinating with PBMs and vendors to optimize client outcomes.

The role emphasizes strategic guidance, RFP leadership, and mentoring within a fast-paced environment. Travel is required to support major client engagements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field is required.
  • 12–15 years of industry experience, specifically PBMs or health plans.
  • Pharmacy benefits knowledge across Medicare, Medicaid, commercial plans.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a high-volume, large/complex book of business with account team support.
  • Consult on health plan design, pricing, benchmarking, negotiations and renewals.
  • Act as an expert in Pharmacy and advise internal SMEs on complex strategies.
  • Lead RFP processes and support new business opportunities with Producers.
  • Mentor and coach colleagues within the unit and participate in evaluations.
  • Participate in sales opportunities and determine when leadership involvement is needed.
  • Collaborate with PBMs to manage RFPs and vendor negotiations.
  • Work with clients to set and execute pharmacy strategies with vendors.
  • Review vendor agreements for accuracy and alignment with client needs.
  • Lead client meetings and provide strategic guidance and financial insights.
  • Develop RFPs by coordinating analyses, vendor responses, and client feedback.
  • Execute renewals by building relationships with key client stakeholders.
  • Maintain ongoing client relationships through on-site meetings and events.
  • Maintain relationships with PBMs, specialty pharmacies, and other vendors.
  • Attend internal meetings and educational programs.

Job description

Lockton is currently seeking a VP, Lead Consultant to join our Pharmacy practice managing complex, large accounts. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of professionalism; possess the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and the flexibility to easily adapt to changing priorities.

Your Responsibilities
  • Responsible for a higher volume of designated, large/ complex book of business, with assistance from account team.
  • Proactively consult on large, complex clients including health and welfare plan design, pricing, benchmarking studies and negotiations, plan renewals and vendor analysis and management
  • Act as an expert within the Pharmacy practice and consult with other internal SME’s on complex strategies to optimize client satisfaction & retention
  • Support the generation of new business by collaborating with Producers in prospect meetings, acting as the technical SME and leading the RFP process
  • Assists in mentoring and coaching others within the unit.
  • Assists with managing and completing performance evaluations for account team.
  • Assists Producer in sales opportunities for prospective clients.
  • Determine when Producer and/or Regional Lead involvement is necessary in problem resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with PBMs to manage RFPs for clients.
  • Work with clients to set a pharmacy strategy and execute the strategy with the client’s pharmacy vendors.
  • Assist in review and accuracy of all vendor agreements.
  • Ability to lead client meetings and provide “on the spot” strategic guidance and financial performance.
  • Develop and produces RFPs by coordinating analytic outputs, vendor replies, and client feedback resulting in successful completion of RFP process.
  • Execute client renewals by building relationships with key client stakeholders and asking effective probing questions that lead to innovative pharmacy benefit plan designs
  • Work with account team to ensure resolution of client problems and/or vendor issues
  • Maintain ongoing client relationships by attending on-site client meetings and/or lunch and evening events
  • Maintain relationships with PBMs, specialty pharmacies, and other pharmacy vendors.
  • Attendance at internal meetings/educational programs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in business related field.
  • Minimum 12 to 15 years’ experience in the industry, specifically experience in PBMs or health plans.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • A complete working knowledge of pharmacy benefits in multiple product lines (i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, commercial Health Plan, employer).
  • Excellent organization, communication and negotiation skills.
  • A firm working knowledge of welfare benefits in multiple product lines (i.e. medical, dental, life, AD&D, disability) and a basic understanding of risk and insurance.
  • Excellent computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet expertise.
  • Complete working knowledge of differing financial arrangements and products available to clients
  • Must be knowledgeable on compliance requirements and federal/state legislation.
  • Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Must be available for travel and willing to accept responsibility for client/vendor entertainment.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred but not required
  • Legal right to work in the United States
