Job summary

W. G. Yates & Sons Construction Company is seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee field operations for a specified discipline or full project.

You will lead the project management team, coordinate with owners, architects, and subcontractors, and ensure safety, schedule, quality, and budget compliance on the site. The role requires mentorship of junior team members, strong communication, and a proactive approach to problem solving.

Qualifications

• An undergraduate University degree or higher (preferably in Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related field).
• Minimum of six (6) years’ industry experience.
• Experience managing a scope of work valued over $1MM.
• Strong understanding of planning and scheduling.
• Strong understanding of business and/or financial principles to project and monitor expenses.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
• Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, product/material installation instructions and engineering/architectural drawings.
• Mentoring, management, and timely performance evaluation of Assistant Superintendent(s) and Foremen.
• Fostering and enhancing owner, architect, subcontractor, and vendor relations.
• Ensuring strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements throughout the project.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate work with project owner representatives, architects, engineers, inspectors, and site subcontractors.
• Schedule and direct trades to deliver project assignments.
• Lead preconstruction meetings with subcontractors.
• Plan manpower and personnel needs on site.
• Lead toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Manage safety, quality, risk, and compliance on the project.
• Oversee site equipment and logistics.
• Track progress against milestones and develop recovery plans when needed.
• Review quantity takeoffs and materials management during buyout.
• Lead meetings to coordinate work and participate in owners’ meetings.
