Job summary

Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity is seeking a Lead Construction Projects professional to oversee residential builds from start to finish. You will develop daily plans, coordinate subcontractors and materials, and monitor progress to meet milestones while maintaining safety and quality.

You will also lead volunteers, conduct safety briefings, and mentor team members, ensuring a positive, on-site experience and alignment with Habitat’s mission.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years of residential construction experience.
• Hands-on carpentry including framing, windows, doors, siding, flooring, drywall, trim.
• Management experience overseeing whole-home construction.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of residential building practices, codes, safety standards.
• Ability to obtain Habitat’s Competent Person Safety Certification.
• Lift up to 80 pounds; climb ladders, scaffolds, roofs.

Responsibilities

• Lead residential construction projects from site prep through completion with quality, safety and craftsmanship.
• Develop daily work plans aligned to schedules and milestones.
• Coordinate subcontractors, inspections, equipment, materials, and deliveries.
• Monitor progress, identify challenges, and implement solutions.
• Complete punch lists and support project closeout.
• Lead volunteers; coach and mentor; create meaningful experiences.
• Conduct daily safety briefings; ensure OSHA standards and Habitat policies.
• Coordinate inspections, permits, and subcontractor schedules.
• Communicate progress and risks to VP of Construction and Project Manager.
