Job summary

Southern Building Group, Inc. seeks a Project Manager to oversee multifamily, student housing, senior living, and light to medium commercial projects.

The PM will coordinate with owners, development teams, design consultants, authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and field staff to deliver projects on time and within budget, while upholding the company’s Mission and Core Values. Ideal candidates hold a related bachelor’s degree and PMP are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Building Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
• Experience managing budgets and schedules for large-scale construction projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Procore, PlanSwift or equivalent.
• Experience training and mentoring construction teams.
• Ability to coordinate with owners, development teams, consultants, and field staff.
• Ability to lead multiple projects and work under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Partner with owners, development teams, and design consultants in the project design phase.
• Identify potential cost and construction risks; anticipate delays to develop proactive solutions.
• Assist leadership in preparing project budgets, estimates, and schedules.
• Coordinate and secure all required permits and licenses.
• Support selection and negotiation of subcontractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Prepare and issue subcontracts, purchase orders, and service agreements.
• Lead pre-construction meetings with manufacturers’ reps.
• Assist in securing subcontractor/vendor insurance and bonds.
• Administer all prime contracts, subcontractor/vender agreements, change orders, and submittals.
• Ensure publication of closeout documentation, including warranties and lien waivers.
• Maintain weekly project schedules and various logs; prepare monthly owner reports.
