Job summary

STO Building Group is seeking a Project Manager to oversee planning, procurement, scheduling, and execution of construction projects. You may manage one or more projects, maximizing profitability while meeting safety and quality standards and owner expectations.

The role involves leading the project team, coordinating with the superintendent, and ensuring successful delivery from pre-award through closeout. A bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in commercial construction are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field, or the equivalent education and experience.
• Preferably at least 5 years experience working in commercial construction.
• Understands estimating concepts to verify bids and process change orders.
• Knows contracting language, construction laws and practices.
• Reads and interprets plans, blueprints and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Champions The Layton Way by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures Constructing with Integrity through honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Works with the Superintendent to ensure successful project delivery and client relations.
• Prepares project estimates and budgets.
• Leads PMP development and pre-award/pre-construction meetings.
• Participates in value engineering and subcontract negotiations; obtains permits as needed.
• Develops project schedule and milestones with the superintendent.
• Manages contract documents and project delivery plans.
• Oversees procurement of materials and equipment within budget.
• Monitors site performance and develops risk management plans.
• Negotiates change orders and manages cost/profit impacts.
• Develops monthly client pay requests and monitors collections.
• Coordinates payments with job cost accountant and certifications.
• Manages closeout procedures including as-builts and letters.
• Interacts with Estimating for cost data and maintains client relationships.
