Job summary

FlatironDragados is seeking an experienced Project Engineer in Morgan Hill, CA to track and analyze cost data, ensuring our projects stay on budget. You will oversee resources, monitor construction scheduling, and lead a team to deliver projects efficiently.

You will review drawings, specifications and data, provide input for work plans, identify budget risks, and report on weekly/monthly performance. Experience managing design-build teams and a strong grasp of cost coding are required.

Qualifications

• 7 years construction engineering experience.
• Experience managing construction engineering teams.
• Able to set clear expectations for direct reports regarding role and responsibilities.
• Able to delegate and assign work to engineering team to progress the project production forward.
• Advanced knowledge of contract specifications and quality assurance practices.
• Knowledge of cost coding and financial reporting methods.

Responsibilities

• Meet with engineering team to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources.
• Review shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data.
• Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling.
• Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
• Evaluate weekly and monthly production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance.
• Updates project schedule weekly for owner and management reporting.
• Prepare and manages a three-week work plan and notify about significant changes; develop mitigation solutions.
• Initiate and manage all RFIs.
• Remit accurate project quantities using cost coding to ensure financials are reported.
• Manage invoicing with accounting team regarding materials, equipment and subcontractor needs.
• Review certificates and permits needed to perform work.
• Review required JHAs to ensure safety; participate in weekly safety meetings.
• Perform leadership role during close-out procedures if PM separates; review close-out checklist.
