Job summary

State of Oklahoma is seeking a Construction/Maintenance Technician III for the Chief James Smith Correctional Center. This on-site role supports the Department of Corrections in maintaining buildings and grounds, performing a range of trades, and supervising others as needed.

The position offers a regular, full-time schedule with a fixed compensation of $40,627.85. Applicants may be required to drive a state vehicle and perform physically demanding tasks in a correctional setting.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in building trades or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Possession of a valid Oklahoma Commercial driver’s license with appropriate endorsements.
  • Ability to perform moderately heavy lifting.
  • On-site position; not eligible for remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Performs carpentry work in construction or renovation of buildings; erects and maintains structures; repairs doors, floors, windows and fixtures.
  • Installs, replaces and repairs plumbing fixtures and associated equipment.
  • Maintains lighting, electrical components and HVAC equipment basics; conducts minor repairs.
  • Installs and maintains locks and security devices; makes keys and handles tumblers.
  • Constructs and repairs foundations, walls, and brickwork; builds walkways and related structures.
  • Operates and maintains equipment used in construction and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
