Job summary

Halmar International is seeking an Estimator to prepare preliminary cost estimates, take-offs, and bid packages for heavy civil and transportation projects in the Atlanta area.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or 4+ years’ experience, plus proficiency with estimating software (preferably HCSS/HeavyBid) and MS Office 365. Strong teamwork and self-motivation are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field or 4+ years' experience in heavy civil/transportation construction.
• Experience with estimating software, with preferred experience in HCSS/HeavyBid.
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary cost estimates, budgets and schedules.
• Prepare accurate quantity surveys and take-offs.
• Solicit bid information from subs, partners and suppliers.
• Distribute and manage bid plans.
• Prepare pricing pages for bids.
• Ensure bid documents are up to date.
• Deliver bids, proposals, and prequalifications to owners.
• Manage WBE, DBE, SBE, and/or MBE goals during bid process where required.
• Lead detailed reviews of subcontractor scope and price prior to award.
• Maintain excellent relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve best pricing, delivery, and quality.
