Job summary

The Scruggs Company seeks an experienced estimator to develop cost estimates from conceptual designs through final contract documents for Georgia projects. You will assess site exposures and construction risks, reflecting costs accurately and identifying constructability issues for value engineering.

Responsibilities include performing takeoffs and contributing to all bid elements across project phases, with emphasis on GDOT road work and use of HCSS HeavyBid and Civil 3D tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Manufacturing or related field and two years of estimating experience.
• Experience with HCSS HeavyBid and GDOT road construction estimating is required.
• Familiarity with road construction assemblies, submittals, and takeoffs is expected.

Job description

Produce estimates from conceptual and schematic drawings. Produce detailed, final contract estimates. Assess site exposures and construction risks and analyze cost and reflect these in an estimate. ldentify construct-ability issues throughout the estimating process and identify value-engineering alternatives. Perform takeoffs and contribute to all aspects of producing successful estimates.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any), Construction Management, Manufacturing or related field of study (*pre-baccalaureate or post-baccalaureate experience acceptable) and two years of experience in the job offered or related occupation in which the required experience was gained. Must have demonstrated experience with: HCSS HeavyBid; road construction estimating in Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) projects; road construction assemblies and all project phases; ordering initial construction materials; managing submittals; Blue Beam; and Civil 3D.
