Job summary

STRUCTURAL is seeking an experienced Construction Estimator for the New York General Repair division based in Hawthorne, NJ. This role focuses on self-performed structural and concrete restoration work across complex projects, requiring analytical thinking and strong client relations.

The candidate will lead bid development, pricing strategy, and proposals while mentoring junior estimators. Travel of 10–20% is expected, with a competitive base salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• 5+ years of progressive estimating experience, with strong preference for self-performed concrete restoration, structural repair, or specialty contracting.
• Proven ability to estimate projects up to $10M+ in value.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, industry-standard estimating software (OST, Bluebeam, or similar), and interpreting drawings/specifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates by performing detailed quantity takeoffs, labor productivity analysis, procuring pricing, and integrating all costs.
• Develop conceptual, budgetary, and final bid estimates from drawings, specs, and site conditions to ensure full scope coverage.
• Develop preliminary construction schedules and bid strategy, including sequencing and duration assumptions.
• Lead bid review meetings to align on strategy, validate pricing assumptions, and ensure accurate final submissions.
• Develop proposals with clearly defined scopes of work, approaches, and inclusions/exclusions; engage with clients and industry partners throughout the bid process.
• Collaborate with operations, project management, and field teams to ensure smooth project handoff.
