Job summary

System One seeks a Senior Construction Electrical Engineer in Lake Mary, FL to serve as the technical lead for electrical engineering support across construction and commissioning for power projects.

The role provides expert guidance on electrical systems, oversees field execution, ensures compliance with codes and client standards, coordinates grid interconnection processes, and mentors junior engineers within a safety-driven, quality-focused team.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering required.
• 10+ years of experience with gas turbine, CCGT, or large power electrical systems.
• Deep experience with GT controls, excitation systems, relays and protection, and high-voltage distribution equipment.
• Willingness to travel up to 20-30% domestically/internationally.
• Knowledge of ISO procedures and OSHA safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary electrical technical authority for construction and commissioning across assigned projects.
• Lead development, review, and approval of electrical installation, testing, and commissioning procedures; validate designs and field execution.
• Interpret and verify complex electrical documents, including drawings, protection schemes, wiring diagrams, load lists, and equipment data for compliance.
• Lead resolution of complex site and design issues related to protection, controls, integration, and commissioning; support RCAs and corrective actions.
• Provide authoritative technical direction to Site Managers, TFAs, contractors, and vendors for safe, efficient execution.
• Oversee construction support planning, protection coordination studies, relay settings, and short-circuit analyses.
• Prepare or review grid code compliance procedures and coordinate compliance activities with SMEs.
• Review and approve technical submittals, PARs, bid evaluations, and major equipment acceptance with cross-functional teams.
• Mentor and develop engineers, promote best practices, and foster safety, quality, and technical excellence.
