Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Lead, Composites Manufacturing Engineer for our AMF facility in Huntsville, AL. The role focuses on leading Lean-driven improvements for composite rocket motor hardware and guiding complex projects with minimal oversight.

The candidate will mentor junior engineers, provide hands-on shop-floor support, and ensure processes meet safety and environmental standards while driving efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with substantial Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• Graduate degree preferred with relevant aerospace/defense exposure.
• Experience with precision machining and part validation.

Responsibilities

• Champion Lean manufacturing projects to improve processes and efficiency.
• Lead transitions for programs moving to Huntsville AMF facility.
• Mentor engineers on manufacturing processes and best practices.
• Provide technical guidance on equipment, tooling, and materials.
• Identify and implement cost-saving and safety improvements.
• Create detailed work instructions, PFMEAs, and JSAs.
• Support shop floor with advanced composite processes.
• Analyze drawings/specifications for robust part designs.
• Present process improvements at reviews and change boards.
