Job summary

Columbia Bank is seeking an experienced CRE Underwriter to evaluate complex commercial real estate loans and prepare credit presentations for senior approval. You will support RMs in managing a broad portfolio, assess market and sponsor risks, and ensure accurate risk rating and policy compliance.

The role requires 7–10 years of underwriting/credit analysis, advanced analytical skills, and collaboration across teams to deliver high-quality credit decisions on time.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of commercial underwriting/credit analysis experience.
• Strong credit risk assessment and financial statement spreading.
• Ability to identify key risks and document conclusions.
• Familiarity with banking regulations and policy exceptions.

Responsibilities

• Underwrites and prepares credit presentations for complex CRE loans.
• Assists RMs in monitoring a large CRE loan portfolio including construction, bridge, and permanent loans.
• Collaborates with RMs to manage and deepen relationships with CRE developers and investors.
• Prepare timely, concise credit recommendations with quantitative components and risk ratings.
• Monitor borrower performance, test covenant calculations, and resolve violations timely.
• Coach or mentor junior staff and ensure compliance with bank policies.
