Job summary

Harmony Senior Services in Roanoke, Virginia seeks a Cook to prepare meals per approved menus, supervise dietary staff in the absence of the Dining Services Director, and keep a clean, compliant kitchen. You will follow recipes, monitor temperatures, and support training efforts.

Excellent dining services experience and Serv-Safe certification (or willing to obtain within 60 days) are required. Must be flexible to evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must have experience in dining services.
• Must possess Serv-Safe certification, or be willing to complete certification within 60 days of hire.
• Must have a basic understanding of food service operations.
• Must be able to read, write, and make simple calculations.
• Must be able to follow oral and written directions.
• Must be experienced in food preparation and cooking.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and present menu items according to standard recipes.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
• Monitor and control portion sizes to minimize food waste.
• Report faulty equipment and ensure proper temperatures of refrigerators and freezers.
• Supervise dietary staff in absence of Dining Services Director.
• Attend required in-service and staff meetings.
• Follow confidentiality policies regarding resident information.
