Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Commissioning Area Engineer to coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical distribution and transmission substations for utility clients. You will supervise startup personnel and collaborate with contractor electricians and engineering staff on site.

The role emphasizes safety, adherence to standards, and accurate documentation, including RFIs and project closeout. Strong communication and field engineering skills are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical equipment testing and inspection, including high voltage applications.
• Experience coordinating and supervising startup personnel on site.
• Knowledge of testing, commissioning and maintenance of power equipment.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to safety-sensitive role.

Responsibilities

• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement through active participation in safety programs.
• Coordinate and lead testing and commissioning activities for new and existing electrical transmission and distribution substations.
• Verify compliance of testing/commissioning procedures with company standards and client requirements.
• Supervise startup personnel, contractor electricians, and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
• Develop and oversee substation field engineering, including work plans and testing oversight during commissioning.
• Prepare integrated functional test plans to validate protection, control, and SCADA systems.
