Job summary

Electric Power Systems (EPS) is seeking a Commissioning Engineer to coordinate testing and commissioning of electrical distribution and transmission substations for utility clients across North America. The role requires leadership of startup personnel and collaboration with contractors, engineers, and operators to ensure safe, compliant project execution.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in electrical equipment testing and inspection, including high voltage applications.
• Knowledge of testing, commissioning and maintenance of power equipment.
• Experience in working in utility transmission substation is required.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug screen due to this being a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement through active participation in safety programs.
• Coordinate and lead testing and commissioning activities for new and existing electrical transmission and distribution substations (greenfield and brownfield equipment).
• Verify that all testing and commissioning procedures comply with company standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.
• Supervise and direct startup personnel, contractor electricians, and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
• Perform substation field engineering, including development of work plans and oversight of testing activities during commissioning.
