Job summary

Project Talent Partners is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Lead to own L1–L5 commissioning across a growing hyperscale data center portfolio in the United States. The role is remote with 50-70% travel to project sites nationwide.

You will lead commissioning plans, verify installation, and oversee IST and integrated testing with MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, ATS/STS, PDUs and EPMS/BMS interfaces. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering L1–L5 commissioning/testing in hyperscale data center environments.
• Experience as Electrical Commissioning Lead, Commissioning Manager, Senior Commissioning Engineer or Electrical SME.
• Strong technical knowledge of critical electrical infrastructure including MV/LV distribution, switchgear, transformers, UPS, generators, ATS/STS, PDUs, busway and EPMS/BMS integrations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate electrical commissioning activities across L1–L5.
• Manage commissioning from factory verification and installation checks through IST.
• Develop, review and execute commissioning plans, procedures and detailed test scripts.
• Lead and witness testing of MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, ATS/STS, PDUs, busway.
• Validate equipment installation, energization, start-up and operational readiness.
• Lead functional testing of electrical systems under normal, failure and emergency conditions.
• Coordinate L4/L5 functional performance and integrated systems testing.
• Verify electrical system interactions with EPMS, BMS, controls and mechanical systems.
• Lead testing of redundancy, failover, loss-of-utility and emergency power scenarios.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and controls-related issues identified during commissioning.
• Coordinate electrical contractors, Cx providers, OEMs, vendors and project stakeholders.
• Manage commissioning deficiencies and turnover packages.

We are supporting a leading organization within the hyperscale data center sector in the appointment of an experienced Electrical Commissioning Lead to support a growing portfolio of mission critical projects across the US.

This is a remote position with 50-70% travel to project sites nationwide.

The successful candidate will take technical ownership of electrical commissioning activities and must have demonstrable experience delivering L1-L5 commissioning and testing within hyperscale or mission critical data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate electrical commissioning activities across L1-L5
• Manage commissioning from factory/component verification and installation checks through start-up, functional performance testing and Integrated Systems Testing (IST)
• Develop, review and execute commissioning plans, procedures and detailed test scripts
• Lead and witness testing of MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, generators, ATS/STS, PDUs, busway and associated critical power systems
• Validate equipment installation, energization, start-up and operational readiness
• Lead functional testing of electrical systems under normal, failure and emergency operating conditions
• Coordinate L4 functional performance testing and L5 integrated systems testing
• Verify electrical system interactions with EPMS, BMS, controls and mechanical systems
• Lead testing of redundancy, failover, loss-of-utility and emergency power scenarios
• Troubleshoot complex electrical and controls-related issues identified during commissioning
• Coordinate electrical contractors, Cx providers, OEMs, vendors and project stakeholders
• Manage commissioning deficiencies, punch-list items and technical issues through closure
• Maintain accurate commissioning documentation, test records and turnover packages
• Support client witnessing, final acceptance and handover
• Drive commissioning activities against aggressive hyperscale project schedules while maintaining safety and quality standards

Required Experience

• Strong background in hyperscale, colocation or mission critical data center commissioning
• Demonstrable experience delivering L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5 commissioning/testing
• Previous experience as an Electrical Commissioning Lead, Commissioning Manager, Senior Commissioning Engineer or Electrical SME
• Strong technical knowledge of critical electrical infrastructure, including:
• MV/LV distribution
• Switchgear
• Transformers
• UPS systems
• Standby generators
• ATS/STS
• PDUs/RPPs
• Busway
• EPMS and associated controls
• Strong understanding of electrical one-lines, schematics, sequences of operation and commissioning documentation
• Experience developing and executing functional performance and integrated systems test scripts
• Strong understanding of redundancy and failure scenarios within mission critical environments
• Ability to lead commissioning teams and coordinate multiple contractors and OEMs
• Strong troubleshooting, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Willingness and ability to travel 50-70% across the United States

This opportunity would suit an experienced data center commissioning professional who can operate as the electrical technical lead through the complete L1-L5 commissioning lifecycle, rather than purely managing the commissioning schedule.
