First Mid-Illinois Bancshares, Inc. seeks a Commercial Loan Documentation Specialist in Champaign, IL to analyze and finalize loan documentation for complex commercial and CRE loans.

You will minimize risk by ensuring accuracy and timely delivery while communicating status with loan teams. The role requires 3+ years in banking or loan processing, strong Excel and policy knowledge, and the ability to train others.

Qualifications

• Requires 3+ years in banking, clerical, or loan processing.
• Thorough knowledge of loan documentation, internal policies and applicable regulations.
• Ability to identify non-compliance and resolve deficiencies in loan files.
• Experience with complex commercial and CRE loan documentation.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced Excel.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed.

Responsibilities

• Identify and report incidences of non-compliance in loan files and analyze regulatory compliance.
• Develop and maintain understanding of regulatory and policy exceptions.
• Review entity documents, confirm authorization to borrow, determine approved signers.
• Review loan write-ups and apply terms to document production.
• Coordinate with loan officers/processors to resolve discrepancies and communicate status.
• Provide training for complex loans including SBA, trusts, and multi-collateral structures.
• Coach Loan Processors and identify control weaknesses.
• Handle complex customer issues and diverse projects.
• Coordinate collateral verifications (UCC searches, title commitments).
• Maintain documentation checklists for compliance and procedural changes.
• Share subject-matter knowledge with staff on loan documentation.
• Review monthly analytics reports for data integrity.
• Assist in conversion mapping with Fiserv; participate in validation.
• Backup for related roles; complete required training.
