Job summary

General Motors in Pontiac, MI invites a highly experienced Lead Combustion System Development Engineer to plan, develop, and execute subsystem tests in a world-class facility. You will lead cross-functional teams, analyze data, and drive calibration development while migrating lab work to math-based models.

The role demands deep knowledge of SI/CI engine systems, engine test processes, and proficiency with AVL PUMA, IndiCom, CAMEO, and ETAS INCA.

Qualifications

Minimum 8 years of experience in automotive engineering with engine system knowledge.
Experience with spark ignited / compression ignited (SI/CI) engine systems and emission formation mechanisms.
Proficient with AVL PUMA, IndiCom, CAMEO, Concerto and ETAS INCA software.

Responsibilities

Actively lead the Product Development Teams while working with Technical Experts to improve design features, calibration strategies and current test methods.
Collaborate with design, 1D and 3D analysis teams to collectively achieve program goals.
Track development test unit through build process and support setup and debugging for test readiness.
Develop and execute first-time capable tests for calibration and hardware development.
Lead diagnosis and resolution of issues during setup and testing.
Utilize post-processing tools to ensure data quality and generate calibration reports.
Interact with facilities, calibration teams, and hardware release engineers to improve process and test efficiency.
Support migration of road and lab activities to math-based models and data analysis.
Mentor and develop new engineers.
